Who doesn’t love going out to eat? We love sharing a meal! Here are a few ways plate sharing can help your health, your wallet, and the planet.
Reasons to Share a Meal at a Restaurant #1: Portion Control
Did you know the restaurant portions in America are almost always much larger than the recommended amount of food one person should be consuming? A half portion is usually more appropriate.
#2: Avoid to-go container waste
To-go clamshells made of polystyrene (styrofoam), aluminum container bases with plastic lids, Plastic to-go ramekins, then a plastic bag to put it all in in the end. Shout out to the restaurants who are trying with paper containers – however, those paper products still had to go through production and shipping. They created waste and pollution along the way. It’s all-in-all better to go without 🙂
#3: Saving Money
Especially if you’re not a huge fan of leftovers and won’t eat them anyway, meal sharing is a great way to enjoy going out to eat but not spend as much money. Now maybe you can catch a movie after too!
All in all, sharing a meal at a restaurant helps three of the Eco Girl primary goals: Helping our health, our wallet, and the planet.
Enjoy!

Eco Girl
