Why Choose Bamboo Toothbrushes over Plastic?

Almost 50 million pounds of plastic toothbrushes make it to landfills every year. All of that plastic will take at least 1,000 years to break down, during which time it leaks contaminants into the surrounding earth. Every plastic toothbrush you had as a kid is still out there somewhere today. Switching to bamboo toothbrushes is an easy way to contribute less plastic to the global plastic problem.

But Why Bamboo?

Bamboo as a material is strong, hard, and durable. It’s one of the fastest-growing plants on the planet and highly renewable.

Bamboo is also naturally antimicrobial and resists water making it a fantastic material for a toothbrush.

How to Use a Bamboo Toothbrush with Charcoal Bristles

Simply use your bamboo toothbrush as you would any other toothbrush! No need to dry the handle after use, just rinse your toothbrush and put it back into its holder bristle end up, just like you would a plastic toothbrush.

How long do bamboo toothbrushes last?

It is recommended to change out your toothbrush (any toothbrush) every 3 months. After normal wear and tear your bristles start to get worn out creating a less effective toothbrush. It’s also a good idea to replace your toothbrush after getting over an illness.

Plastic-Free Packaging

Each bamboo toothbrush with charcoal bristles comes with minimal packaging. They’re packaged plastic-free in individual cardboard sleeves. Please recycle.

End of Life

Once you’re done, repurpose your toothbrush to clean hard-to-reach areas, crevices, grout, and more.
When it is time to say goodbye you will need to use pliers to pull out the nylon bristles.  You can save the bristles and see if your local recycling facility is able to process the small bristles.  If they cannot process the bristles they can go in the trash or in an ecobrick.
Remove the bristles and compost or repurpose tha handle. Some ideas for repurposing the toothbrush handle include: garden markers, paint stirrers, fire starters, or crafting (picture frames, soap dishes, etc.)
