Reclaimed Shipping Materials
There is SO much packaging in circulation already. We say, why contribute to the problem? Whenever possible, we ship your order using reclaimed materials gathered from our local community in Western Massachusetts. We also reuse the shipping materials that come in from our suppliers. This includes cardboard boxes, plastic-free mailers, kraft paper, and plant based “peanuts” that dissolve in water. We also use old newspapers, magazine pages, and shredded junk mail as padding to help keep your items safe in transit. Please consider extending the life of this packaging even further by reusing it or giving it to a person or organization who will. Otherwise, please recycle. <3
If none of the reclaimed boxes we have on hand are a good fit for your order, we’ll use a new box. It will always be 100% recycled and/or recyclable cardboard. If you’re sending your order as a gift and would like to request a new box and nicer looking packaging, feel free to e-mail us right after placing your order or leave a message in the “order notes” field at checkout. We’re happy to dress it up zero waste style.
Thinking Small
We joke that they call them “big box stores” because they ship the tiniest items in inappropriately large boxes. Unfortunately this common practice takes up unnecessary space in delivery vehicles meaning more trips and excess fuel consumption. We always package your order using the smallest box we have available.
Plastic-Free Eco-Friendly Shipping
You wont find plastic bubble mailers and polystyrene (Styrofoam) peanuts here. Our shipping materials are non-plastic and we exclusively use paper tape to close your box.
Further Efforts to Reduce Our Footprint
Sometimes your item will be shipped to you directly from the artist or supplier. This helps keep our prices low and reduces transportation and fuel, keeping your package’s footprint even smaller. Plus, your item only needs to be packaged once. Hooray!
99% of orders shipped from our Western Massachusetts studio are shipped via USPS. Our friendly mail carrier picks up the packages as part of their usual route, meaning no extra trucks need to stop by.
