Why Choose Coconut Scrubbers Instead of Sponges?

Did you know that typical kitchen sponges and scrubbers are made from plastic? They’re not recyclable so they will go straight to a landfill. Even when you use them, they shed tiny amounts of microplastics down the drain. These microplastics end up in our water and our bodies.

Coconut kitchen scrubbers are a great plastic-free alternative to plastic sponges and scourers. They’re made from totally natural ingredients; coconut coir and natural rubber, so at the end of life they’re 100% biodegradable and will not produce microplastics. This pad is made from coconut coir that’s a waste product of coconut harvesting. This provides farmers in India an additional source of income since this waste is purchased rather than it being discarded.

Materials and Packaging

  • Coconut coir and natural rubber

  • Comes in a 100% recycled unbleached Kraft box, printed with Soy Ink, which is 100% recyclable

Product Care and End of Life

To prolong the effective use of the scrubber: Use the coconut scrubber for specific dedicated tasks such as cleaning grease and hard grime. For everyday tasks and regular washing, use a biodegradable dish brush or a natural loofah sponge.

When the coconut dish scrubber is no longer scrubbing your dirty dishes well, you can use it as a soap dish to put a bar of soap on. Or you can throw the scrubber at your best friends head. As long as the scrubber lands on a patch of grass, it will biodegrade. But preferably, bury it in the ground or compost it.

I have been using these kitchen scrubbers for several weeks. They do an excellent job in cleaning my dishes. I am so glad to find a product to replace the plastic scrubbers I have been using.
